Le Natura surfs the rising tide of veganism at Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa

Social media

Consumption patterns are constantly changing, with plant-based lifestyles and diets gaining considerable traction worldwide. As it becomes more accessible and less niche, veganism is becoming increasingly widespread in Mauritius. Shandrani Beachcomber is demonstrating its commitment to plant-based cuisine and catering to its increasingly numerous vegan clients by opening Le Natura, the Beachcomber Group's first vegan restaurant. It offers a 100% vegetarian menu with a selection of vegan options.

As an inherent part of a vegan lifestyle, vegan cuisine is inventive, creative and delicious. Shandrani Beachcomber is proudly pioneered vegetarian fine dining in Mauritius. The resort is enriching its already varied and attractive culinary offer with a fourth restaurant that offers a 100% vegetarian menu alongside a selection of vegan dishes. Le Natura will win over the taste buds of anyone committed to an ethical, sustainable and balanced lifestyle.

Local Mauritian produce

Vegetarian and vegan guests staying at Shandrani Beachcomber will find the best of Mauritius’ generous nature on their plates. The local produce is as delicious as it is colourful, and is reflected in Le Natura’s refined and varied set menu, which consists of a starter, soup, main course, cocktail and dessert.

Throughout their journey on this ocean of flavours, guests will delight in the fact that local products take pride of place, including in the form of a main course consisting of cauliflower and potato curry, sautéed cashew nut tofu, fricasseed white beans, and tomato and coriander chutney. Other mouth-watering Mauritian dishes and vegetables also feature, including a bean and sweet pepper vindaye, Mauritian-style pickled mango, and confit cucumber and pineapple.

Our cocktails: flawless flavour combinations

Le Natura’s vegan cocktails draw out the essence of astute fruit and vegetable blends. These include carrot, melon and papaya; beetroot, green apple and cucumber; cucumber, carrot and watermelon; or even cucumber, green apple and grapefruit. Whether on a plate or in a cocktail glass, our flawless combinations of aromas and flavours have a common feature – they are all made from the best and freshest produce that nature has to offer.

While you enjoy your Mauritian holiday at Shandrani Beachcomber, you’ll quickly realise that Le Natura’s chefs have more than one trick up their sleeves. Couscous, vegetable tagine, biryani, or kofta, soba noodles with broccoli and soya sprouts, flavoured with lemon confit … vegetarian and vegan diners can look forward to all these and other delights. It must be said: nature has taken up residence at the Shandrani Beachcomber’s Le Natura.
